Schedules

Everything the panel does on its own is a schedule: the nightly backups, the WordPress scan, offsite copies, monitoring. Automations → Schedules lists them all, with when each runs next and how its last run went.

Automations → Schedules with the built-in schedules and two custom ones

The page has three cards. Scheduled jobs queue jobs you can open in the Jobs list. Background tasks work inside the panel and only show their last run. Custom schedules are your own, described in Your own scheduled jobs. Times are on the server’s clock, which the page names at the top.

Scheduled job Runs Changed in While it is paused
Scheduled backups On the backup schedule, 03:00 by default Settings → Backups No site is backed up on schedule, and no panel snapshot is taken
WordPress inventory scan When a site’s inventory is older than the interval, 6 hours by default Settings → Security Update counts and vulnerability warnings go stale
Malware scans Each site every 24 hours by default Settings → Security No site is scanned. Scan now on a site still works
Offsite copies Every minute, and right after each backup Backups → Storage Nothing is copied offsite
Container limits follow-up Every minute, after the limits changed Settings → Sites Sites that were busy at the change keep their old limits
Nightly housekeeping 04:00 Fixed Old backups, statistics, logs and finished jobs are no longer removed
Background task Runs While it is paused
WordPress cron Every 5 minutes Scheduled posts, plugin tasks and WooCommerce emails stop on every site
Uptime checks Every minute by default A site that goes down is not noticed
Site resource stats and Server resource stats Every minute by default The charts and the dashboard stop updating
Disk usage A few sites at a time, each about every 30 minutes Disk sizes stop updating
Visitor statistics Every minute Statistics stop updating, and visits meanwhile may not be counted
Update check Every hour New releases go unnoticed. Check now still works
Recipe catalog Every hour New and changed recipes stop arriving. Fetch now still works

The monitoring intervals are set in Settings → Monitoring. A row whose timing is a setting links to it with Change in Settings.

The rest of the background tasks show Always on, with the reason. They keep the platform working, so they cannot be paused:

Background task Runs Why it is always on
Mail log Every minute It enforces the sending limits that suspend a site sending spam
Site network repair Every minute A redeployed stack can leave sites unreachable without it
Site protection Every minute, and right after each change It puts protection back on a server that lost it
Blocked addresses Every minute, and right after each change It ends blocks on time and restores them after a reboot
Wildcard certificate token Every minute, and right after each change Edge It gives each server’s Traefik the Cloudflare token
FTP upkeep Every minute It switches off expired FTP logins
Update watchdog Every 30 seconds A failed update would leave the panel read-only
  1. Turn off the Active switch on the schedule’s row.
  2. For a built-in schedule, read what stops while it is paused, then choose Pause.

A pause holds for every way a schedule starts: its timer, the catch-up run after a restart, and events such as a finished backup. It survives restarts. Paused schedules are listed at the top of the page, each with Resume.

Choose Run now on the schedule’s row. It runs once, whether the schedule is paused or not, and a paused schedule stays paused.

A schedule that queues jobs asks first, then says how many jobs it started, with a link to them. A background task starts at once, and its row shows Running now until it is done. View runs under a schedule’s last run opens the Jobs list filtered to the jobs it queued.

An automatic run that found nothing to do is not recorded. Last run is the last time the schedule did something.

  • Built-in schedules cannot be deleted, and their timing is changed in Settings, not here. The housekeeping time is fixed.
  • The tasks marked Always on cannot be paused.
  • New monitoring intervals take effect after the panel restarts.
  • Pausing scheduled backups also stops the nightly snapshot of the panel’s own database.
  • Through the API, pausing, resuming or running a built-in schedule needs a Full key.
